Private schools and the pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting all aspects of our society.

Private schools have responded with remarkable speed and creativity to make sure that their students are continuing to learn and that their families have the support and contact that they need.

But the pandemic, and the resulting economic impacts, also poses a real and immediate threat to private schools across Missouri.

The MORE Network is working to highlight school innovations, call attention to the impact the pandemic will have on private school budgets, and help private school leaders and families fight for access to relief funds and programs.

Innovations

Private schools across Missouri have led the way when it comes to reimagining education during this time of crisis. They have been able to quickly deploy distance and e-learning solutions to their students and have been engaged and responsive to parent concerns.

Impact

Private schools face what could be a perfect storm of financial issues as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only must they worry about maintaining enrollment, but they also will see decreased income from endowments, tithing, scholarship organization and foundations at the same time that they deal with increased costs from expansion to e-learning.

Actions you can take

Your Missouri private school provides an important service to children and families. It is critical for your school to weather the current crisis and the impending financial fallout caused by the Covid-19 pandemic for the sake of the children you serve.

Yes, things seem chaotic, but our leaders are still at work and are figuring out how relief resources will be allocated. Now, more than ever, your voice is critical.
